How to Use the Playstation 3 mods or Jailbreak

After waiting about a week after purchase, you should come home with a jailbreak where you can edit the ps3. But how? From the official websites of Jailbreak you can read the guides, but are not very detailed, so I suggest you read my guide below.

First you have to get a normal USB stick on which you insert the installation files downloaded from the official site.

Now, to start the console in debug mode please follow these instructions:

1.Make have the same system version 3.41. The version of the system can be seen from Settings> System Settings> System Information

2.stacca the power of PS3

3.riattaccalo

4.Enter the Jailbreak and the normal USB stick

5.Press the power button and immediately after the Eject button.

There, now your Playstation 3 will start in Debug mode , if the operation is successful, the LED will light up the jailbreak before red and then green. Now go to the games section and press X on the folder “Install Package Files” and then run the file “manager.pkg” in it.

The installation will take a few seconds and once completed you will find in the game in the PS3 dashboard application that looks like a dart at the bottom: The back-up manager.

Guide to the proper use of the Back-up manager

The back-up manager, as I said before, it allows you to start back-up games in your ‘HDD. That being said it seems obvious that you have to pay you a original disk to start the first time.

Start the back-up manager as if it were a normal game or application (after you start the console in debug mode) and in a short time, you will see a black screen with a title in red on top.

The screen of the back-up manager will be like the one on the side. Below you can see the commands: X to load games on the HDD and triangle to eliminate them. In the picture you see twice the icon of the game GOD OF WAR.This is because the first icon in the GOD OF WAR ‘ HDD, while the second is that of the GOD OF WAR in Blu-ray player . Once you have inserted the disk that will allow you to back-up press the X button on the icon of the game.

If you did everything correttamente screen will changeand you will see that side. This shows the progress of the Back-up in ‘HDD and can last several minutes or an hour difference in the size of the game in question.

Once the back-up you have to insert a disk in any Bluray player(this is not necessary with alternative back-up manager) and press the X button on the game icon that you saved on the HDD.

Your PS3 will return to “normal” and you will end up the main menu, with only a difference in the game you will find the game you made the backup. From this time onwards will not insert the disk for that game but the disc of any game, and once entered the back-up manager click on the desired game in HDD.

2.Insert PS3break dongle device that has been reprogrammed as downgrader into your console.

3. Turn on the console using the same boot method as all other jailbreaks: Press power then immediately press eject. Your console will turn on and PS3break dongle don’t light up.

4. After few minutes,the ps3 console power off automatic and red LED light up.

5.Remove PS3break dongle and turn on console to make sure you are in Factory Service Mode. You will see a huge red box on the screen saying Factory Service Mode.

6. Load any blank FAT32 USB flash drive device with 2 files in the root directory: 1. Modified 3.41 PUP 2. Lv2Diag.self (File 1)

7. These must be the only files on the USB key and must be placed in the main (root) directory.

8. Insert flash drive into the last USB port to the right — the first USB port in from the right side if you’re facing the console. Turn the PS3 on and you will see black screen but the PS3 HDD light will flash.

9. The process takes 3-4 minutes for the system to install the old firmware. Towards the end, the power button on the console will start flashing green and then your console will power off.

10. Remove the flash drive and turn on the console, you will still be in Factory Service Mode. Please verify you have downgraded successfully to version 3.41 by going to “System Information”.

11. (Optional) – If you wish to downgrade to any older firmware you can follow step 4, 5, 6 using any regular firmware PUP. (You do not need to use modified custom firmware now that you are on 3.41).

12. Insert USB flash drive back into your PC and delete the PUP and Lv2Diag.self file (File 1) and copy the other Lv2Diag.self (File 2) to the root of the flash drive.

13. Insert USB flash drive back into the same USB port on the PS3 and power on your PS3. After 10 seconds it will power off.

14. Remove USB flash drive and turn on your console again. You will be out of factory service mode and back in retail mode with your chosen firmware version installed. You will need to go through setting up settings configuration. How to make ps3break downgrade dongle as normal dongle: To go back to PS3break dongle device, just flash in the normal .hex or mhex files.  * After pluging the downgrading dongle,if it did not enter factory mode,Please shut off machine normally and restart.
